WebApps/Modules - Different detail layout and template per item
under review
Martin Sanderson
At the moment you set these per WebApp/Module. Instead you should be able to set them per item.
Apply this to all WebApps/Modules, and Categories.

Categories - Choose detail layout and page template individually

Currently there is one global detail layout and one global page template for the categories. If you could pick the layouts for each category individually it would allow for better customization with sites which use categories for multiple things.

eCommerce - ability to apply separate layouts to products and catalogs

Currently, you globally assign a template to all categories (catalogs). You also globally assign a detail layout to all Products.
We'd love for these selections to turn into defaults, but then be able to apply specific templates/layouts to both the categories (catalogs) and products if we need to.

The main way to achieve this for now would be to have a single Page Template for your WebApp items, then use Logic to display a particular Code Snippet based on Category or ID. It's a similar question to the one answered here: https://help.siteglide.com/en/articles/3548750-faq-how-can-i-change-the-detail-view-for-products-based-on-their-category
For those using Siteglide CLI, I think you would be able to write custom Liquid in the "layout_name" property in the yaml?
This would be something I'd hesitate to be doing globally, as it would involve an extra request before Page Load for all Pages, potentially slowing performance. It might be best to remain as a custom feature?
Will continue to review.

I agree. It would be great if we could pass a parameter in the link to the webapp, which would display it using the custom detail template. ie. /webappitemslug?template=custom
